For the past couple of weeks, I have been in a strange dilemma. I was reluctant to sleep and carry out all nighters to complete plethora of work that needs to be done around the house. And finally, after sleeping, it seems pointless to wake-up and feel there is nothing to be done even though lots of work is still pending. So, most mornings (Or afternoons, depending on the day before) I will be stuck in bed and going through hundreds of notifications on my mobile phone. And then I saw above picture in a CCTV alert saying, “human was detected”. This made me laugh because it was a familiar bird type and I used to mimic their sounds whenever they were near my house and screaming shit.

I used to hate notifications. They are making me do things (Yup. In way helped to identify a short circuit in my house electricals and fix it before a fire) or talking to people. Or worse, costing money by making me buy things. When we left our less responsible lives and started working, mobile notifications were very helpful for gathering information in a glance. But it became so irritating at later stages with increased to-dos and stuff that you had to monitor and take care of. So, I guess then notification fatigue became a thing.

However, technology can be an illness and its own medicine. Do Not Disturb mode was introduced and it became more configurable or smart to assign dynamic time periods according to your daily routines to allow or block notification including calls. It was advanced enough to detect and allow important calls and even allow your loved ones to disturb you anytime.

In the past few years technology got so advanced that it has been able to control (Lets say, suggest) our daily habits including when to wake\sleep, how much to eat and even measure and alert when we are overdoing ourselves with smart watches etc. I was using a simple Fitbit watch to track my day. It was suggesting my daily routine from wakeup time to sleeping time. Also monitors health metrics like steps, heart rate, body temp etc. to suggest required intensity of daily workouts. Other than keeping my fitness in check, I was able to offload some of life’s burdens to something else. (Biggest win)

Anyway, I wrote this post to share my laughter with whoever is reading this blog. Most importantly, to share this nice song that came to my mind after the laugh. Enjoy.
